Volunteer at the National Adaptation Forum

Take advantage of this unique opportunity for students and early career professionals to mingle with leading climate change adaptation practitioners at the National Adaptation Forum May 9-11, 2017. As a volunteer you will be able to participate in many sessions and learn more about climate vulnerability assessment, adaptation strategies and solutions, ensuring social equity and climate justice, and innovative and achievable planning and management for society and the natural world, and the best ways to implement it. Volunteer applications are now closed. Announcements will be made by Friday, April 14, 2017.

What does being a National Adaptation Forum Volunteer entail?

Volunteers will be able to attend half of the sessions and are asked to dedicate the other half of their time to volunteering. General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Greeters: Greeters will be stationed throughout the facility directing people and maintaining the flow of participants to event sessions, the exhibit area in the Midway, etc. and staffing the information desk

Session Monitors: Stationed inside session room, assist speakers as needed, assure proper signage posted at door, alert designated persons of any problems with audio visual equipment, seating, etc. and make sure the session stays on schedule

Social Media Outreach: Assist in Social Media outreach by tweeting, posting information on Facebook, and taking pictures of the Forum with your mobile device

Jack-of-All-Trades: In addition to the items above, you may be asked to support the National Adaptation Forum Coordinators in other areas. These activities include but are not limited to: general runner - communicating any needs for participants or presenters, assist with counting number of attendees per session, and immediately report any participant or presenter challenges to Forum Coordinators as soon as possible for resolution.

  • Full registration fees waived for all three days for a daily 4.5 hour volunteer commitment

  • Serious minded, helpful, flexible, courteous, and committed
  • Attend a volunteer training session
  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to your shift
  • Check-in and out at the volunteer check-in desk
