Volunteer at the National Adaptation Forum

This is a unique opportunity for students and early career professionals to mingle with leading climate change adaptation practitioners at the National Adaptation Forum April 23-25, 2019. Your help is instrumental for the success of the Forum. Volunteering provides an opportunity to participate in sessions and learn about climate vulnerability assessments, adaptation strategies and solutions, ways to ensure social equity and climate justice, and ideas for innovative and achievable planning and management for society and the natural world. What does being a National Adaptation Forum Volunteer entail?

Volunteers will be able to attend half of the sessions and are asked to dedicate the other half of their time to volunteering. General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Greeters: Greeters will be stationed throughout the facility directing people, maintaining the flow of participants to event sessions, the exhibit area, and staffing the information desk.
  • Session Monitors: Monitors will be stationed inside session rooms assisting speakers as needed, assuring proper signage posted at session doors, alerting designated persons of any problems with audio visual equipment, seating, etc., and making sure the sessions stay on schedule. 
  • Social Media Outreach: Volunteers will assist in Forum social media outreach by tweeting, posting information on Facebook, and taking pictures of Forum activities with your mobile device.
  • Jack of All Trades: In addition to the items above, you may be asked to support the National Adaptation Forum Coordinators in other areas. These activities include, but are not limited to, communicating any needs of participants or presenters to Coordinators and assisting with counting the number of attendees in sessions. 

What does a National Adaptation Forum Volunteer receive?

  • Full registration fees waived for all three days for a daily 4.5 hour volunteer commitment

Volunteer expectations

  • Serious minded, helpful, flexible, courteous, and committed
  • Attend a volunteer training session
  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to your shift
  • Check-in and out at the volunteer check-in desk
  • Review and sign EcoAdapt's Volunteer waiver, release and indemnity agreement
  • Review EcoAdapt's Volunteer Handbook and sign the acknowledgement form

  • Once you have set-up your profile you will receive a confirmation email with a temporary password. Please log in and change your password as your email and password allow you access to your PROFILE and VOLUNTEER APPLICATION.
